The product of 9 and a number is

9 * x

Added to six

9 * x + 6

Gives the result of 24

9 * x + 6 = 24

Now you solve it algebraically

Subtract 6 from both sides

9 * x = 18

Divide both sides by 9

x = 2

The answer is 2
