c is the hypotenuse of that right triangle.  Use Pythagorean's theorem to solve.  [tex]c^2=9^2+6^2[/tex]   or  [tex]c^2=81+36[/tex].   [tex]c^2=117[/tex]  so  [tex]c= \sqrt{117} [/tex].
