In 45 45 90 degree triangles y is equal to 7√2/2 and x is 7√2/2*√2 which makes it 7*2/2 to 14/2 to just 7

Cos 45=adjacent side/hypotenuse side
=>1/root2=7root2/2/x
(Cross - multiplying)
=>x=7root2/2*root2
=>x=14/2
=>x=7
