[tex] log_{a}x=y [/tex] means a^y=x so

[tex] log_{3x-7}25=2 [/tex] means (3x-7)^2=25
(3x-7)^2=25
square root both sides
3x-7=+/-5
3x-7=5
3x-7=-5
add 7
3x=12
3x=2
divide 3
x=4
x=2/3

x=4 or 2/3
