The slope of the line is given by the "rise over run" ratio:

[tex] m = \dfrac{\Delta y}{\Delta x} = \dfrac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1} = \dfrac{5-3}{14-6} = \dfrac{2}{8} = \dfrac{1}{4} [/tex]
