factor

-3d/(d-4) (d+2) +3/(d-4) = -2/(d+2)

multiply by (d-4)(d+2) on each side

(d-4)(d+2)[-3d/(d-4) (d+2) +3/(d-4)] = (-2/(d+2))*(d-4)(d+2)

distribute

-3d +3(d+2) = -2(d-4)

distribute

-3d +3d+6 = -2d+8

combine like terms

6 = -2d+8

subtract 8 to each side

-2 = -2d

divide by -2
