False. Afghanistan is famous for being full of land mines. These mines aren't just from the Taliban and Al-Qaeda but many are left over from Soviet occupation in the late 70's through the late 80's. According to defensindustrydaily.com there are about 100,000 landmines still in Afghanistan today.
