With [tex]\sqrt{-1}=i[/tex], we have

[tex]\sqrt{-24}=\sqrt{(-1)(24)}=\sqrt{-1}\sqrt{24}=i\sqrt{24}[/tex]

Since [tex]24=2^3\cdot3[/tex], we can further write this as

[tex]i\sqrt{24}=i\sqrt{2^2\cdot6}=2i\sqrt6[/tex]
