We have to determine the conversion factor used to convert inches to yards. Yard and inch are US and British customary length units. We know that 1 yard = 3 feet = 36 inches. So we just have to divide 1 by 36. 1 : 36 = 0.027777.... ( more accurate with more decimal digits ). For example: 54 yards = 54 * 0.0277777 = 1.4999958 ( approx. 1.5 ).
