The sixth amendment gave all American citizens the right to a fair and speedy trial. This became law on December 15th, 1791. This amendment took into account how criminals were treated on England and some of the cruel punishments they received that were not exactly fair all the time. This amendment gave all citizens the right to a lawyer.
