How to solve the equation 9x-2=16

9x-2=16

9x-2+2=16+2

9x=18

9x/9=18/2

x=2

9x-2=16
We have to try and get x on its own
9x=16+2
We have moved the -2 to the other side which made it a +2
9x=18
x=18/9
The 9 has now become a division instead of a multiply
x=2
