First simplify the fractions: 1 1/2 + 3/10
Then add the fractions together: 0.8
Then you have 1.8.

No adding the denominators(bottom number), you only add the numerators(top number).
5+3=8
8/10
1+0=1
1 8/10
8/10=4/5
