Steps to solve:

y = x - 3

~Subtract x to both sides

y - x = x - x + (-3)

~Simplify

y - x = -3

~Subtract y to both sides

y - y - x = -3 - y

~Simplify

-x = -3 - y

~Divide x by -1 to both sides

-x/-1 = -3/-1 + (-y/-1)

~Simplify

x = 3 + y or x = y + 3

Best of Luck!
