Raising a number to 1/2 is the same as wanting the square root of the number so 100 ^1/2 = squareroot(100) = 10

Raising a number by 1/3 is the same as wanting the cube root of the number so 125^1/3 = cubicroot(125) = 5

Now you have 10-5 = 5
