since it’s an equilateral triangle all sides are 2y+4, then you would do 2y+4+2y+4+2y+4 or 3(2y+4) which equals 6y+12. then you set 6y+12=36, subtract 12 from both sides, 6y=24, then divide both sides by 6 to get y=4
