if y = 5 when x = -3, find x when y = -12

I've spent the past few minutes figuring it out, but I can't figure out what to do because 5 doesn't go into 3.

I got 7.2 I am not 100% sure but this is what I did:
So since y=5 when x=-3 and to find what y=-12 would be for x. I divide -12/5 and got -2.4 so I multiplied that by -3 and got 7.2
