A washer and a dryer cost $765 combined, the washer cost $65 more than the dryer. What is the cost of the dryer?

W + D = 765; W = D + 65 Now substitute D + D + 65 = 765. 2D + 65 = 765. 2D = 700. D = 350. W = 350 + 65. W = 415. 350 + 415 = 765
