Figure 1,

When 1 unit = 1 cm

Perimeter = Boundary of the figure

                = 3+3+6

                = 12 cm

Area of one square = side * side

                                    = 1*1

No. of squares in the figure = 6 squares

Area = Space occupied inside the figure

        = 6 cm^2
