The answer would be B) -4.5.

-8.6 = x - 4.1 (regroup terms)

-8.6 + 4.1 = x (add 4.1 to both sides)

-4.5 = x (simplify -8.6 + 4.1 to -4.5)

x = -4.5 (switch sides)
