x(x+2)=2(4)
x²+2x=8
minus 8 both sides
x²+2x-8=0
factor
what 2 numbers multiply to -8 and add to 2
-2 and 4
(x-2)(x+4)=0

set to zero
x-2=0
x=2

x+4=0
x=-4

x=-4 and 2
