A body of mass 320kg is moving at a velocity of 20 m/s is brought to rest by a constant force of 960 N.Calculate is the distance traveled before coming to rest.

Answer:

a = F / m = -960 / 320 = -3 m/s^2      force in opposite direction to acceleration

t = (V2 - V1) / a =(-20m/s) /(-3 m/s^2) = 6.67 s

S = V0 t + 1/2 a t^2

S = 20 * 6.67 - 3 / 2 * 6.67^2 = 66.7 m
