In the formula G(n) = 1000(0.5)^n-1, what is the first term of the sequence?

when n=1 that is the first term
that is
g(1)=1000(0.5)^(1-1)
g(1)=1000(0.5)^0
g(1)=1000(1)
g(1)=1000
1000 is the first term
