My personal opinion is Yes, it is kinda detracted.
When you do something kind, you should not tell everyone and show off. Doing something kind is for them, not for you to go around and tell people, "hey, I gave 20 dollars to a homeless guy", No. When you do something kind, you should not be going around and telling everyone.
