The length of a rectangle is 3 yd longer than its width. if the perimeter of the rectangle is 50 yd , find its length and width.

Length = w+3
P = 2L +2W
50 = 2(w+3) + 2w
50 = 2w +6 +2w
50 = 4w +6
50-6 =4w-6
44 = 4w
44/4 = 4w/4
w = 11
l = 11+3
l = 14

50 = 2L+2W
50 = 2(14) + 2(11)
50 = 28 +22
50=50
