Because of the growing unrest among ethnic Albanians, Milosevic ordered Yugoslav military forces into Kosovo in early 1998.
This led to the Kosovo war that happened from March 1998 to June 1999. The war happened in order to determine whether the Ethnic Albanian or the Serbian Ethnic that would gain the right for Kosovo territory
