MgSO₄(aq) + BaCl₂(aq) → MgCl₂(aq) + BaSO₄(s)

Mg²⁺ + SO₄²⁻ + Ba²⁺ + 2Cl⁻ → Mg²⁺ + 2Cl⁻ + BaSO₄

SO₄²⁻ + Ba²⁺ → BaSO₄  (the net ionic equation)
