solve for x -x/3+1 need help please

you cannot solve unless it is equal to something
if we assume that it is equal to zero then


-x/3+1=0
subtract 1 from both sides
-x/3=-1
multiply both sides by 3
-x=-3
mulitply -1
x=3
if the equation equals zero only
