convert to vertex form

or easier
for y=ax²+bx+c
the x value of the vertex is [tex]\frac{-b}{2a}[/tex]
and the y value is found by subsituting the x value in for x

so
y=1x²+4x+11
a=1
b=4

the x value of the vertex is [tex]\frac{-4}{2(1)}=\frac{-4}{2}=-2[/tex]

the y value is found by subsituting -2 for x
y=(-2)²+4(-2)+11
y=4-8+11
y=7

the vertex is (-2,7)
