Scientist were able to create an experiment based on the frequency of a bluegill's coughing. By increasing the concentration of industrial contaminant in the water, they were able to monitor an increase in the fishes coughing. As a result they showed that by monitoring these fish they could estimate how pure water is in a specific body.
