While travelling home, Victor’s spirits are briefly lifted by the beauty of the scenery that surrounds him. He sees the snow-capped mountains, and travels along a the shores of a lovely lake. He finds joy and peace in the beauty of what he sees around him – very much unlike what will happen to him later.
