y + 9 = 3(x + 9)

Distribute on the the right side.

y + 9 = 3x + 27

Subtract y from both sides.

9 = 3x - y + 27

Subtract 27 from both sides.

-18 = 3x - y

Switch sides.

3x - y = -18
