Age bias is being used to infer that the new employee is young and maybe not experienced. It used used in such a way as to be subtle, non discriminatory and to not stigmatize the individual. The words used are, in their essence describing the characteristics and attitude of an individual that is younger. It is a way of expressing ones opinions and thoughts without being offensive.
