n 1895 an eruption happened and the volcanic ash was heavy enough to poison the land and kill livestock, especially in the East Fjords of Iceland.The eruption occurred from the SE corner of the caldera. The eruption formed Viti crater. Farmland was damaged by the eruption. Also, this is the largest eruption for this volcano.
