Mrs. Tang spent $640 on a pair of shoes and a dress. The pair of shoes cost $80 less than the dress. How much did Mrs. Tang spend on the shoes?

Ans: (640-80) divided by 2=280-cost of the pair of shoes
280+80=360-cost of the dress

check: 280+360=640
