Hello!

You start with 13 1/4 inches of steel

You cut 2 3/4

So yo subtract these two

13 1/4 - 2 3/4 = 10 2/4

Then you cut 3 1/4 inches off

You subtract these as well

10 2/4 - 3 1/4 = 7 1/4

The answer is 7 1/4
