Factoring

[tex](x - 4)(x + 2) = 0[/tex]
Rule AB = 0, so A = 0 or B = 0.

[tex]x - 4 = 0[/tex]
[tex]x = 4[/tex]

OR

[tex]x + 2 = 0[/tex]
[tex]x = - 2[/tex]
