To figure this out simply divide 22 by 2, 11, so therefore 11+11=22. subtract 3 from 11, add 3 to the other 11 because 3+3=6, making the correct answer 8+14=22.

You could also set up the equation

x + x - 6 = 22
2x -6 = 22
2x = 28
x = 14

Since x is 14 then the other number is 14 - 6 = 8

The numbers are 14 and 8
